Week 1 Patterns
March 1, 2025
Hello and welcome to the Fantasy & Fae Bookcase Quilt Along! Thank you for participating. The first week of the quilt along features several patterns that are rated as a 1 on the difficulty scale; perfect for beginners!

Please check out the new Nerdy Quilter YouTube Channel for walkthrough videos for several of the patterns.
This will be my second every quilt along and my very first time trying to make How-To videos. I would love to hear from you; do you like them? Do you want something different? Please let me know!

We are going to start off the Fantasy & Fae Bookcase with some simple blocks. The Book Spines and Ruby both have Tutorials on YouTube to follow along with. If you're a beginner, you should be able to make all of the other Week 1 blocks (if you want) after you've learned the general technique through the YouTube blocks.

Use #FantasyFaeQuiltAlong to share your WIPs or finished blocks! Let's make a community that's focused on Quilting AND Fae!
Week 2 Patterns
March 8, 2025
Welcome back to Week 2 of the Fantasy & Fae Bookcase Quilt Along! This week we'll be building on the fundamentals learned in Week 1 and adding some fun new themed blocks. I wanted to add one of the Illyrian Bat Wing Bookends as quickly as possible. Note: there are TWO different versions of the Illyrian wing, a more simplified version (shown in Gray below) and a more detailed version. Truth Teller is also avaible in two different orientations, leaning right and leaning left.
Two blocks will have detailed walk-through instructions available on YouTube: Glass Castle and Fourth Wing Badge. Share your creations using #FantasyFaeQuiltAlong and join the Facebook Group HERE!
Week 3 Patterns
March 15, 2025
This week we are jumping over to Crescent City for some themed blocks. Don't worry, ACOTAR and Throne of Glass will also be represented! There are no detailed walk-through videos this week; next week will feature a Dragon Block with detailed instructions. Check out the Nerdy Quilter Designs Facebook group if you have questions on a specific block; there are lots of folks who are also sewing the same things as you!

Looking for themed book-spine fabric but don't want to order a whole yard of fabric? Check out the Book Spine Fabric cuts I have available: $2 for any 3.5" x 44" of fabric, which is more than enough for any book spine within this quilt along. Stary Night? Got it! Lightning and Starfall themed? Got that too! Free shipping (it will be shipped in an envelop snail mail style), only available for USA residents at this time.
Week 4 Patterns
March 22, 2025
Welcome to the halfway point of the #FantasyFaeQuiltAlong! We are increasing the difficulty of blocks this week: Fire Sprite & Fireheart blocks are both on the difficult side.
When I say difficult, I mean there are a few small sections (Lehaba's eyes) which can get fairly bulky as you sew, which can cause alignment issues. Stick to the fundamentals you've learned, sew slow, and you'll be fine!

What kind of themes are we looking at this week? I'm glad you asked... Fireheart is one of my favorite nicknames in the Throne of Glass series, so I had to include a block for it! The Dragon and Lightning bolt blocks are a nod to Fourth Wing. However, the Dragon could also be Throne of Glass or other Fantasy Series. A similar Wyvern pattern will be released in the upcoming weeks.

The Dragon Books block is a 20" double block, which also will have a detailed walkthrough video available on YouTube. I don't think I'll get the video finalized by the release date, but it will be coming soon! Check out the Nerdy Quilter Designs Facebook group if you have questions on a specific block; there are lots of folks who are also sewing the same things as you!
Week 5 Patterns
March 29, 2025
Welcome to the Dread Trove! This week's pattern feature all three items in the A Court of Thorns book series. I used the Mask as a nod to the Iron Mask in the Throne of Glass series. A few other blocks from Throne of Glass are also included! I am a personal fan of the dagger, it's a simple block but looks amazing when done. Any Eragon fans out there? A Brisingr sword and Dragon egg double block are also part of this week's pattern drop.
Week 6 Patterns
April 5, 2025
This week we are diving into some of my FAVORITE blocks for this Quilt Along! The Illyrian Bat Wing Bookend is one of my all time favorites, but who doesn't love Kadara and Fleetfoot?? Thank you so much for participating. I hope you enjoy the patterns as much as I have!
